What is mezcal and how is it different from tequila?

Where does the agave for UASISI come from?

Our agave Cupreata comes from Etucuaro, Madero, in the mountains of Michoacán. We work directly with maestros mezcaleros Ignacio and Refugio Pérez, fourth-generation brothers who have cultivated agave in Michoacán for generations, respecting the natural cycles of the land and traditional farming practices.

How long does it take for agave to mature?

Maturation time varies depending on the type of agave. Espadin, the most common, takes between 7 and 10 years. Wild agaves like Tobala can take 12 to 15 years, and some like Tepextate up to 25 years. This long maturation is what makes artisanal mezcal so special and unique.

What does 'artisanal' mean in the context of mezcal?

According to NOM-070, artisanal mezcal must meet specific criteria: cooking in earth or masonry ovens, milling with tahona, mill or mallet, fermentation in wooden, stone or earth containers, and distillation in copper or clay stills. Our process meets all these requirements, preserving the ancestral techniques of our master mezcaleros.

How should I store my mezcal?

Store your mezcal upright, in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight. Unlike wine, it doesn't need to be stored on its side. Once opened, mezcal maintains its properties for a long time if the bottle is properly sealed. The ideal temperature is between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius (59-68 F).

Mezcal, being a distillate with high alcohol content (usually 40-55% ABV), does not expire or go bad. You can enjoy it indefinitely if stored correctly. However, once opened, we recommend consuming it within 1-2 years to better appreciate its aromatic and flavor qualities.

Shipping cost is automatically calculated at checkout based on your location and order weight. We offer free shipping on orders over $2,500 MXN within Mexico. For international shipping, the cost includes special handling and protective packaging.

Why do you need to verify my age upon delivery?

By law, alcoholic beverages can only be sold and delivered to adults. In Mexico, the legal age is 18; in the United States, 21. The carrier will request an official ID at the time of delivery to verify your age. Without this verification, we cannot complete the delivery.

What happens if I'm not home?

The carrier will attempt delivery up to 3 times. If no one of legal age is available to receive, they'll leave a notice with instructions to reschedule. You can also track your order and coordinate delivery through the shipping company. If delivery cannot be completed after all attempts, the package will be returned and additional charges will apply.
